We must also recognize the tireless efforts of the dozens of volunteers, the backbone of any successful effort such as ours, as well as the work of the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Sheriffs Office, State Police, and the volunteer fire and rescue companies.
As the only fundraising effort for the Rappahannock County Recreational Facilities Authority, which is charged with maintaining and improving the Rappahannock County Park, we urgently need local residents and businesses to support the Fodderstack 10-K Race.

To the Editor:
I would like to congratulate the Rappahannock News for addressing our community need for pertinent information.
In several articles presented in the April 2 edition, the paper focused on student activities at RCES. The column [by Diana Corbin] It’s Elementary! is an excellent example of the newspaper’s ability to provide parents with information. To quote U.S. Rep. George Allen, from another article in the very same edition, “American parents have turned over too much of their responsibility for education to government. . . We must find ways to get parents involved with their children individually and also with their local schools.”
