beet, pork barbecue

The flower club of Promise Land Baptist Church will have a beef and pork rib barbecue with choice of potato salad or cole slaw from 10 a.m. until on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the baseball field at Pine Knot Inn.

Auditions scheduled

The Rappahannock Players invite all interested parties to come audition for a role in the play “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck. Parts are available for nine men and one woman. Auditions will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 and Sunday, Sept. 20. 'Day of Caring'

The Piedmont United Way “Day of Caring” in Rappahannock will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 at the Washington Community Center. Benefit fashion show

On Thursday, Sept. 17 from noon to 2 p.m. the Rappahannock Unit of the American Cancer Society will host a luncheon and fashion show. The event will be at the Bleu Rock Inn, and will feature collections by Christing Fox, From Any Angle, For Lucy’s Friends and jewelry from Personal Treasures. Shooting match at CVFD

The Castleton Volunteer Fire Department will be starting its annual shooting match on Saturday, Sept. 19 and continuing every Saturday through Nov. 14. Cash and meat prizes will be awarded. The shooting match will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 5 p.m. No sleeves or scopes will be allowed. For further information please call 937-6051.

Bake sale, car wash

The Flint Hill Fire and Rescue Company will hold a bake sale and car wash from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the fire hall. Anyone wishing to donate baked goods should call Connie Huff-Harris at 675-3067.
