While it may seem that it is safer to live in a cave and never get any sun, it is possible to enjoy the sun in a healthy, safe way without putting your skin in danger. In fact, your skin depends on some sun exposure to help it produce Vitamin D, which your body uses to make healthy bones and teeth. Just making a few changes in the way you spend time outside now can help you develop healthy sun-habits later.

• If you are going outside, wear a highSPF (Sun Protection Factor) sunscreen on all areas of your body not covered with clothing, and don’t forget your ears and the tops of your feet! The best sunscreens are waterproof, so you don’t have to put them on as often.
