Rising health care costs have radically changed the focus of medicine from inpatient treatment to outpaient service. Hospitals across the country are striving to provide patients with high quality care in the most efficient setting.
Strides in medical technology have vastly unproved the quality of medical care, but these same improvements have also contributed to escalating health care costs. It is too costly for patients to remain ih a hospital as long as was acceptable in the past.
Fauquer Hospital, like most other hospitals, is working to stay current with changing health care trends. Major construction now underway at the facility is transforming it from an inpatient care center to an outpatient hub of medical activity in the community.
The metamorphosis was well-planned. In 1988 Fauquier Hospital retained the services of a health care facilities consultant and an architectural firm to study the need for renovation and expansion. The results were clear. An exhaustive document titled "Facility Evaluation and Master Plan” recommended major changes at the hospital.
To better serve the needs of the growing outpatient population and improve the effidenty of the hospital, the consultants developed a plan to renovate 37,000 square feet of existing space and add an additional 28,000 square feet.
