A rectal examination of the gland is an effective and simple way to detect abnormalities. Fauquier Hospital will offer prostate screenings along with other screenings at the Alive and Kicking Health Fair to be held on Sept. 26. Individuals can also see their personal physician for an exam. It is recommended that the exam be done annually for men 40 and older.
Both mammography and prostate exams are important in the early detection of problems, and ealy detection leads to a better chance of a cure.
