Wolf leaves
no doubt
To the Editor:
Like Walter Day (see “Letters,” Sept. 3), I had the pleasure of joining the Lunch Bunch and listening to Frank Wolf speak about the issues. Congressman Wolf left no question as to his views on abortion, namely, that he is against it, and he opposes measures that would promote it.
Many Democrats as well as Republicans share this point of view; many do not. Where the parties differ (and this was Mr. Wolfs point) lies in their willingness to accept opposing viewpoints on the issue.
Despite a strong pro-life plank in the party’s platform, the pro-choice Republicans (Lynn Martin, for example) were prominent figures at the party’s national convention. In sharp contrast, those in charge at the Democratic Convention muzzled their pro-life membership.
Gov. Casey of Pennsylvania, a Democrat of national stature, was prevented from speaking at the convention because his views on abortion were politically incorrect.
Mr. Wolf asked me to express his thanks for the kind invitation. We especially thank Werner Krebsei and Peter Kramer, who assembled £ sizeable crowd on very short notice.
