Taxpayers eligible for a Virginia income tax refund may again this year choose to contribute all or part of their refund to the Open Space Recreation and Conservation Fund. This fund is used to acquire lands suitable for parks, natural areas and open spaces across the state.
Since the tax checkoff first appeared on the Virginia income tax form in 1989, nearly $374,000 has been contributed. More than 16,000 citizens make donations each year.
