The apple is a native of Eurasia. In addition to its commercial importance in Rappahannock County apples are beautiful lawn trees.
They are lovely and fragrant in spring, productive in fall and visually interesting in winter. They are quite adaptable and can be kept compact by judicious pruning.
They are hardy and incredibly resilient, able to withstand the worst kinds of damage and abusive pruning.
