Will Senator Charles S. Robb really have to defend himself against charges that he is “unindicted” by a grand jury?
His nemesis, Governor Douglas Wilder, a fellow Democrat believe it or not, believes Robb pulled some sneaky deal to avoid indictment in a case involving illegal taping of a Wilder conversation. The Governor also thinks Robb is unfit to hold public office.
The Wilder bombshell came during a week when the political cauldron in Virginia was boiling over the top again and attracting national attention.
While the Robb-Wilder feud was being carried to new extremes, Ollie North, a prospective Republican candidate for U.S. Senate next year, was being denounced by gay rights groups and others for his role in a black-tie roast in Northern Virginia during which jokes were made at the expense of blacks and homosexuals.
