nod have asked me, but the thought here is that the standard bearer is going to be forced into a high risk strategy that, in football terms, amounts to ’throwing the bomb’ early and often.
That strategy might involve relentless attacks on Ms. Terry’s record as attorney general with accusations that she did not adequately defend the right-to-work laws and failed to foresee a potential financial disaster involving taxation of the pensions of federal retirees.
At the same time, in a state carried by George Bush despite the Clinton national win, an effort could be made to link Ms. Terry closely with the Clinton Adminstration and the national Democratic parties and such policies as support for gays in the military, higher taxes on energy and tobacco, and a calling for defense cutbacks that will have a heavy impact on Virginia.
