The Rappahannock Fanners Coop in Sperryville and the Rappahannock Electric Coop in Culpeper are sponsoring two local 4-H mem,bers to participate in the 1993 Virginia
Cooperative Leadership onference to be held April 2-4 at Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria. ^ Mark Jenkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Jenkins of Flint Hill is receiving a scholarship from the Rappahannock Farmers Coop and Kelly Lawler, daughter of Pat Lawler of Flint Hill is receiving a scholarship from the Rappahannock Electric Coop.
“They will join approximately 250 teen members of 4-H and FFA throughout Virginia to participate in the statewide conference conducted by The Virginia Council of Farmer Cooperatives,” according to Mr. R. V. Rice, Executive Secretary. At the conference, 12 youth will be selected to represent Virginia at the national NICE conference to be held in Denver this summer.
“In preparation for the conference, Mark and Kelly have interviewed the managers of the local coops and written an essay explaining what a cooperative is,” commented Helen Smith, Extension Agent in Rappahannock. “We are very appreciate of our two local coops for providing the scholarships to this educational conference for two of our 4-H’ers each year,” she continuted.
