All four of the birds of prey displayed last Thursday night were brought to the Wildlife Center of Virginia after suffering injuries. “We get quite a few animals hit by cars,” San Jule said. “We see some ' birds who fly into picture windows and quite a few small animals who have been attacked by housecats.
“I have a cat. I love cats. But they can do a lot of damage,” SanJule said.
The center — located in Weyers Cave, Va., about halfway between Harrisonburg and Staunton — treated about 2,300 animals last year. “Every year, we seem to see more,” San Jule said.
Most of the animals have been injured after some kind of interaction with humans, San Jule said.
