Lions open fund

drive for blind

They will be where you can sefc them. Special White Cane Day recepticles have been placed in country stores, local banks, restaurants and many other places of business all over Rappahannock County.

You can help the Lions help the blind by contributing whatever change you can spare for this very worthy cause during the next few days.

Ever since 1925 when Helen Keller challenged the International Lions to become the “Knights of, the Blind,” the Lions have given to[} priority to helping the blind by providing Leader Dogs, working to eradicate preventable blindness, funding research to find means of dealing with that “thief of sight” Di-J abetes and by testing school chip dren’s sight on a regular basis.

It was a Lion from Illinois who first invented the red-tipped White Cane to help blind people become; mobile and to alert others to become more aware of the problems of the visually handicapped.

The White Cane has become a universal symbol. So when yoyi see; that simple White Cane bottle, please don’t pass it by. Help the Lions help the blind.
