HUME — More than 500 enthusiastic boosters turned out last Sunday at the home of Frederick and Lindy Hart for a bipartisan fund-raiser to support House of Delegates’ Candidate Sue Scheer’s race for the 31st District Seat.
Many well known political figures were in attendance. Guests of honor were Sen. Charles Robb, Lt. Gov. Don Beyer, former Senator Eugene McCarthy, former Del. A! Smith from Winchester and John Gibbons, science advisor to President Clinton.
The theme of speeches given by both Sen. Robb and Lt. Gov. Beyer centered on the importance of education in Virginia. They said the present delegate. Jay Katzen, failed to promote or support public education and failed to help protect the environment.
