who receive no compensation at all. They just want to help their friends and neighbors in times of emergencies or whenever they just want a helping hand!

One of the ideas that came out at the board meeting was that of going to a paid service. Talk about tax increase! To properly staff a paid department would cost $354,000 per year for personnel only. This figure does not include equipment, trucks, ambulances or a building.

I hope this information has helped shed a little light on an always unpopular thing, a tax increase. The volunteers want to give every citizen of Rappahannock County the best service they can provide. As always, they are grateful for past support and look forward to further support.

On behalf of the Rappahannock County Fire and Rescue Association 1 thank the members of the Board of Supervisors for acting on a very tough problem and for helping us as always. Thank you!
