The Rappahannock High School Girls Basketball teams suffered through more defeats this past week. Last Thursday at home against Stonewall Jackson, the JV fell 42-8, and a last-second Stonewall bucket in the Varsity game made the final 81-14.
On Tuesday, Rapphannock hosted Page County. The JV fell 37-15 and Varsity dropped a 57-27 decision.
The brightest light for either team to this point in the season has been the superlative play of eighth grader Sonya Wigington. Sonya is the starting point guard for the JV team, and, if she were eligible to play varsity, would start for them.
When Sonya, who is in her first season of organized basketball, realizes that she is the most talented JV player in the Bull Run District, you will want to be there to see her terrorize the poor opposing team.
