Three (3) of the five (5) routine samples collected on 13 July 1995 tested positive for coliform bacteria. Following receipt of these results, ten repeat samples were collected from the distribution system on 18 July 1995. Two (2) of the ten tested positive for coliform bacteria but negative for fecal coliform bacteria and another tested positive for coliform bacteria and fecal coliform bacterja. In addition, one sample each was collected from the well, pressure tank and storage tank. The sample collected from the storage tank tested positive for coliform bacteria but negative for fecal coliform bacateria. Subsequently the system was disinfected and continuous chlorination was installed. Six (6) additional samples were collected from the distribution system and one sample each was collected from the storage and pressure tank on 25 July 1995. All samples tested negative for total coliform bacteria. To confirm that coliform bacteria was no longer present in your drinking water, five (5) routine samples were collected from the distribution system on 8 August 1995. All five samples tested negative for total coliform bacteria.
Further failures of this type, however minor, will be reported to you as required by Federal and Slate waterworks regulations aimed at increasing your awareness of conditions that exist in public water systems.
