fellow citizens who truly understand how the County Government serves those of us who pay the taxes. So we asked John McCarthy if he would enlighten us. He graciously agreed. He will explain “How County Government Functions” from the overall perspective of his office as County Administrator. Some incumbent officials who are unopposed on the November ballot will also be present to respond to questions that involve their special areas of responsibility.
John McCarthy has held the position of County Administrator since July of 1988. He graduated Cum Laude from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg and earned the degree of Master of Planning from University of Virginia in 1986. He enjoys living in Rappahannock County with his wife, Susan, and their four children.
