Haif a dozen or so men worked diligently Thursday at The Shade ranch:
They hauled rough planks of oneand-an-eighth-inch oak and nailed them to tall posts to make double layer holding pens. They were readying The Shade for an unusual event — the arrival of nearly 70 bison.
Construction was still going on Friday and Saturday. Several bison were sold Saturday afternoon in an auction, the featured activity of The Shade’s Big Bison Event sponsored by BisonEAST, an organization founded by Harold Thrower whose wife owns The Shade.
