Preparing for this Saturday’s performance in the premiere of Suite from the opera “The Fall of Albion” and his role as narrator in Stravinsky’s “L’Histoire du Soldat” had been an experience with several firsts for Rappahannock’s Howard Coon.
“This is a different experience. It’s fun and invigorating,” he said. In “Albion” Mr. Coon will sing the baritone role as Apollyon, a satyr, half man and half goat. Mezzo soprano Marilyn Boyd will play the Mad Furies.
Richard Squires, the author and composer of the opera has been working on the piece for 15 years, Mr. Coon said. A CD has been cut of the work, but it has not been widely distributed. This will be the first time any of it has been seen on stage. The Arlie Players and the two singers are
