Cathy Wingfield Bigelow and Reed Green Gillespie were married Oct. 2 at 1:30 in the afternoon by Pastor Jon Heddleston at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents and her children.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Wingfield of Sperryville. Her grandparents are Mrs. Catherine Taylor of Harrisonburg and the late Charles “Ed” Taylor, the late Mrs. Eleanor Swope and the late Lawrence Wingfield.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Duff Gillespie of Kensington, Md. He is the grandson of Mrs. Betty Swartz of Cleveland, Ohio and the late Eugene Swartz, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Emmitt Gillespie.
The bride wore a Sue Tbsch design wedding gown with a jewel neckline and braided bodice attached to a box pleated, duchess satin skirt that flowed into a chapel train. She wore a fingertip veil which fell from a baked bisque porcelain tiara of ivory roses, leaves and pearls.
Her bouquet was a cascade of stargazer lilies, white roses, daises, stephanotis, baby’s breath and ivy.
Denise Wingfield of High Knob, Front Royal served as her sister’s maid of honor.
