The group witnessed the incredible wealth of Henry Clay Frick, who made his fortune in steel in the early nineteenth century and whose art collection includes works by Rembrandt and Van Dyke, contrasted against the poverty of the South Side tenements, where many European immigrants first made their home in America.
They also visited the New York Stock Exchange and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The students enjoyed their spare time by taking in a movie at Times Square and visiting Soho. The group returned to Virginia on March 19.
