Herman Atkins
Born in county ; Herman Burtnell Atkins, £7, of Luray died on Tuesday, March 21 in Luray.
He was bom on March 22, 1902 in Sperryville and was a eon of the late Thomas Franklin and Maggie Dodson fVtkins. j Mr. Atkins had worked as a private contractor and was employed at the Virginia Oak Tannery and the Visco. He was a member of the Luray {Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
In 1928, he married Elizabeth Griffith Atkins, who (lied on April 26, 1951. On dune 4, 1952, he married the former Minnie Marie Deavers, who died on Oct. 23, 1999.
He is survived by a son, Herman Wayne Atkins of Portland, Tenn.; a daughter, Clarice Doss of Richmond and ten grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sons, James Earl Atkins and Thomas Edward Atkins; eight brothers and two sisters. ; Funeral services were conducted Thursday, March 23 at ithe Bradley Funeral Home. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray.
Virginia Aylor
Born in Madison • Virginia Elizabeth Aylor, 174, of Falls Church died on Sunday, March 19 at Arlington Hospital in Arlington. { She was bom in Madison ;County on July 16, 1925 to the ■late James E. and Mary E. Alexander. J At an early age she joined the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, where she continued her membership many years upon residing outside the Culpeper area. { Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Lewis E. Aylor; three daughters, Jean ,E. Moses of Nokesville, Ruth E. Grogan of Dumfries and Shirley A. Porter of Washington; one son, Marvin ;E. Aylor of Falls Church; five ■ grandchildren and seven ; great-grandchildren. ; Additional survivors ■ include; one sister, Mary B. I Aylor of Boston; three brothJers, Walter Alexander of ■ Washington, D.C., Luther {Alexander and Lenwood ; Alexander, both of Culpeper ■ and numerous nieces and {nephews.
