Tb mix, lay a plastic tarp beside the planting area. Dig a hole twice as wide as the plant and equally as deep, tossing the soil onto the tarp. Check that the plant is not root-bound —if it is, gently tease the roots out of the massed ball to guarantee good root-soil contact. Then place it in the hole.
Backfill with the soil mixture. Leave about a half-inch of the rootball above the ground; not doing so can lead to trunk or stem rot.
Water, to settle the soil and mulch, to reduce weed competition and conserve moisture. Do not mulch up to the trunk or stem, as doing so encourages moisture rot.
