was dismayed to find that something — a mole or a vole — had eaten through the rind and into the beautiful, red fruit, stopping its growth.
“Moles,” I said with despair.
Well, Fm not the kind of guy to take things lying down. I decided to do battle with the little creatures.
The first wave
of attack
First I sprayed the affected areas with castor oil. They’re supposed to hate the smell of castor oil. Nothing doing. I think they used it in their little woks to cook up some grub stir fry.
Then I heard that they loved Juicy Fruit gum, and that if you balled it up in little pieces they would eat it and become so blocked up they would constipate to death. Zip. They left a note saying that they’d prefer Dentyne.
But then they went too far. They taunted me.
