The flowers were tightly closed in on themselves. Leaves, about a halfinch across, were arranged alternates ly on hairy stems of a most delicate shade of purple. The leaves were nearly round with shallow, upwardturned teeth.
In the warmth of the house, the four petals began to expand outward. With a magnifying glass, I saw that the flower at the end of the reclining stem was elegance in miniature.
The underlying color of the petal is nearly white; there is only a hint of blue. Deep purple lines from the base to the tip combine with the nearly white petal to give the illusion of sky blue. Even the stamens — there are only two — have minute anthers of the deepest and purest indigo blue. What marvels are revealed under a magnifying glass!
