Martha Barton

Washington resident

Mrs. Martha Barton, 75, of The Meadows, Washington died Tuesday, March 28 at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.

She was bom March 31, 1924 in Weldon, N.C., a daughter of the late Benjamin and Emma Purnell.

Mrs. Barton was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and of the Episcopal Church Women. She was also a member of the Culpeper Minuteman Chapter of the D.A.R. She was a homemaker.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church by the Rev. Jennings Hobson.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Irving Barton of Washington; three sons, Andrew Edward Barton of Columbus, Ohio, Robert Douglas Barton of Houston, Texas and Peter Alan Barton of Arlington; a daughter, Julia Elizabeth Dunbar of Houston, Texas and two grandchildren, Evan Dunbar and Bonnie Barton.
