Angela Overy is the author of “Sex in your 'Garden” and spoke on plant reproductive strategies. She defined biodiversity as “the inter-dependence of life on our planet.”
There are three facets: plants animals and people. Plants rely on their pollinators and we rely on the plants for food, shelter, oxygen and other vital gifts.
Plants tend to be stationary. They can’t move around and select a mate. They have developed fascinating ways of getting their pollen moved around for them.
Some pollinators rely on the flowers for food. The plant supplies them with energy and they, inadvertently, help the plant reproduce.
