to come9 More than most of us choose to recognize. We have to think “out of the box”, set new trends, be the first, research and learn from other areas of the country who have managed to maintain their identity, and establish methods of spreading our vision so that newcomers are at least guided to “the thinking of the area”. (I have heard ridge top owners say they wish someone had told them that it is frowned upon by so many.)
Much the way the Sperrvville Gateway Committee created their mission, beginning with what w’e value as citizens, we can also do as a county. Citizens writing and calling to voice their opinions, attending meetings, getting involved and listening to what is being decided, takes energy that will be rew arded tenfold.
We always have choices in change. Those choices are available because freedom of speech exists so that all can have a voice. Decisions that effect our county are numerous and regular. Those who sit in the position of decision making are best served by listening to their constituents. And sometimes, all it takes is a presentation by some creative citizen like yourself that offers an option that had not been considered.
Our own individual creativity, and energy to utilize it, will pave the way for what is to come.
