the Lions year in June as the recipient of several prestigious awards, both regional and statewide. The Rappahannock Club won the state Achievement Award for activities conducted during the past year and the Outstanding Club Award in competition with 15 other clubs in Region Four. Two club officers were recognized for conspicuous achievement — Bill Racer with the President’s Award and Kermit Weakley with the Outstanding Secretary Award.
One hundred and twenty-one Rappahannock youngsters attended an outing to the South Wales Swim Club on Tuesday. The activity was sponsored by the County Extension Office.
Doug Baumgardner has opened a law office in the Town of Washington. After changing partnerships it was necessary to change his office sign so he rolled up his sleeves and went to work. A photograph of Mr. Baumgardner showed him on the ladder replacing his sign.
David Martin Moore of Winchester has accepted the pastorate for the Washington Baptist Church effective July 17. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond and Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, N.J. Among his immediate aims for the Washington Baptist Church is to promote growth in the Sunday School and institute a youth program. He also desires to organize a church choir.
