COMMUNICATIONS OPERATOR Position #: 31408, 31409, 31413 Starting Salary Range: $22,325 to $26,790 Culpeper County has openings for full-time communications Operators to work in the Joint E911 Dispatch Center. Under general supervision, the positions dispatch assignments to law enforcement and fire/rescue units using computer aided dispatch systems, radios and telephones. The positions will be assigned to twelve-hour shifts and may rotate on a monthly basis between day and night shifts. Successful applicants will be at least 18 years of age, high school graduates or holders of GED certificate, be available to work varied hours and shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays, and able to type at least 25 words per minute. Selected candidates must pass drug screens and comprehensive background investigation. Selected candidates must also be able to attend a training class in Fredericksburg for two weeks. Fluency in spoken and written English is required: bilingual ability in English and Spanish is considered a very major asset.
