new bright red uniforms. Each player paid $100 which covered the cost of the baseballs, the umpires’ fee of $90 per game and part of the cost of the uniforms. Several anonymous supporters picked up the remaining tab for the uniforms. Team members purchase and maintain their own bats and gloves. (Bats alone for this age group run on average anywhere from $150 to $250!)
The Senators practice twice a week at the ball field at the elementary school. Coach Warner is hoping to get in a practice every day and will be able to do that later in the season.
The Washington Senators are still looking to add to their ranks. If you’re at least 12, not older than 16 and want to play ball, call Coach Warner at 675-1378 and then come out to the baseball field behind the elementary school.
