With this in mind, the next time you are outside enjoying the Sperryville Sky, think about just how small we are in the realm of things. One look upward will surely remind you to put your worries into perspective. And it will also remind you of just how lucky we are to have such a beautiful sight to behold each and every night.
Our neighbor Ben “Cooter” Jones had a busy 4th of July as he started the day with the first 4th of July parade in the nation in Gatlinburg, Tenn. at 12:01 am. He and wife Alma also managed to attend the morning • Chesterfield, Va. parade on their way to the afternoon Culpeper parade. Whew!
Several Sperryville residents visited the “gentle celebration” on the 4th at the Courthouse in Little Washington. Ice-cold lemonade and homemade chocolate chip cookies were enjoyed by the travelers.
On Saturday, local children were treated to a fantastic storyteller at the Rappahannock Library. Linda Fang greeted a room full of anxious listeners and brought to life several stories of a Chinese Empress, Judge, and some magical animals. The children had a wonderful time, as they were encouraged to join in by wearing beautiful Chinese clothing as they acted out the storyteller’s tales.
