Approximately 20 motorcycle riders braved 40 mile-perhour winds Sunday, enjoying Amissville’s American Road Motorcycles third annual pokerrun, with the proceeds going to The American Road Motorcycles Club.
The group left from American Road on Route 211 at 11 a.m., traveling through Flint Hill, to Marshall, then to Wartenton and back to the store, picking up playing cards at stopping points along the way.
Hence — a poker-run. The best hand at the end of the run was the winner.
However, from the smiles on faces upon returning to the shop, everyone who rode was a winner, just enjoying an opportunity to get out on their bikes.
For Tom Pescitani of Jefferson, after riding his Honda Shadow off-and-on for 20 years, this was his first pokerrun event.
“My hands got cold on a back stretch, but then I warmed up and was fine,” he said, donning a leather jacket to keep warm. Pescitani heard about the run
