Worried about Clevenger’s Corner? Want farmland to remain farmland? Open spaces open? Keep developers at bay? The Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance (RCCA) has a suggestion — come to dinner on Saturday, May 14.
Where, When
and What
The dinner will be held at the home of Judith Hope, on land that is in conservation easement. The speaker will be Robert Lee, executive director of the Virginia Outdoors Foundation, the organization that “holds”' all but a small handful of the easements in Rappahannock County. Entertainment will include live blue grass music by local musicians. The event will honor landowners who have placed their land in conservation easement in 2004.

The dinner is a benefit, with fifty percent of the net proceeds going to the Farmland Preservation Program.
The Farmland Preservation Program encourages working farmers to donate conservation easements in exchange for cash payments, cash that can be used to pay taxes and otherwise stay on the farm. That is, the program helps farmers to keep farming.
