Yelena’s elderly servant, Luka, is Norman Getsinger. A retired diplomat with a long career in the U.S. Foreign Service, Getsinger was last posted in Hong Kong as deputy consul general. He now lives near Flint Hill. Mr. Getsinger’s interest in theatre actually began in the 1940s with summer stock in New York City. His love of the theatre brought him back to play various roles in Ki Theatre productions in recent years, including “Under Milkwood” and “The Shepherds’ Play.”
Behind the scenes
With the successful production of five plays at Ki Theatre in recent years to her credit, producer Bette Mahoney has garnered the appreciation of audiences in such plays as “The Shepherds’ Play,” “Ancestral Voices,” “Stories Run Through Us,” and “No Ordinary Person.” Mahoney is a retired economist whose work focused on the design and analysis of large governmental surveys. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago and serves on the board of the Headwater’s Starfish Mentoring Program and the Rappahannock chapter of the American Cancer Society. She and her husband, Michael* have made their home in the county for nearly two decades.
