HONORS For those men and women who made the greatest personal sacrifice as members of this nation's military, a burial with honors is the respectful and appropriate final tribute. In accordance with the federal law, eligible, veterans and their spouses may be buried in a national cemetery. This burial is available to all members of the U S. Armed Forces and Veterans who have met minimum active duty requirements and have been honorably discharged. Their spouses, unremarried widow or widower, minor children, are also eligible. In addition, eligible spouses may be buried even if they predecease the veterans. The ceremony that honors a deceased veteran is the expression of our nation’s gratitude.
