and, while a lot has changed, I think the numbers still add up the same way they did then.

Rappahannock County has a lot of families on fixed incomes. And borrowing a phrase from Mr. Gannon’s article in last week’s paper, that I hope you studied carefully, would all those people whose income went up 24 percent last year please raise their hand? Not many hands go up.

But, fair is fair, and we should be willing to give an extra two or three percent for taxes to keep up with inflation. Maybe we would have to go to four or even five percent. But 24-26 percent is off the chart.
