Clubs’ Summer Camp in Vesuvius, Virginia, are funded with monies raised during the Garden Club’s Annual Greens Workshop and Sale held each December. The Greens Sale has been a very successful fund raiser for the Garden Club, and each year has seen an increase in interest and orders for greens, so that they were able to provide this new scholarship this year.
Ms. Priest stated that while this scholarship is awarded based on the need of the student, the Garden Club also wants this scholarship to go to a student who they feel will complete college, and awards this scholarship to the student they believe most likely to do so based upon their application answers. “Ms. Dunn presented an excellent application for the scholarship,” said Ms. Priest. “It was very well thought out, and we could see that she had spent a great deal of time and effort on it. Ms. Dunn wrote an excellent essay, and foDowed all the application instructions very closely.”
Vanessa Dunn is the youngest of three daughters of Margaret Dunn of Sperryville, ' and is a native of Rappahannock County. Ms. Dunn has attended Hearthstone School since its inception in 1996, when she started in the third grade. During her tenure at Hearthstone, she has shown herself as an incredibly hard worker, conscientious, soft spoken and talented. She has excelled in all of her academic studies, as well as pottery, art
