Conservation of our productive farmlands is an investment in the future- an investment that will continue paying in perpetuity through not only lower taxes but also a better quality of life in the Rappahannock County.
This year the board of supervisors will be asked to make an important and lucrative investment in the future of Rappahannock. Proposed in the 2006 budget is dedicated funding to establish a Conservation Easement District to promote voluntary conservation of prime farmlands. The formation of the district will help protect the productive agricultural lands of the county from subdivision and development, which in turn will help us achieve the goals outlined in the counties comprehensive plan while helping keep taxes lower in the future.
