MARSHA COOKE Marsha Cooke is known as the “wingless angel" of Fauquier Hospital. Every day her calm and quiet demeanor helps her gain the respect and admiration of her patients and coworkers, and it recently helped her earn the coveted Ruth Krusie award. The "kind and gentle" approach has earned Marsha a solid reputation during her 21 years of nursing At Fauquier Hospital. She is caring and compassionate with her patients and she willingly shares her expertise and wisdom with her coworkers. "I think I project a calm influence," Marsha says. "I don't overreact and I've learned how to adapt to things. Maybe it's because I'm a Libra!" Marsha feels fortunate that she found the perfect career to fit her personality. "Bedside nursing is definitely my forte," Marsha says. "I've been offered other positions, but I prefer to remain a hands-on nurse so 1 can work directly with the patients. I just enjoy helping people get better. I like to see them walk out the door feeling much better than when they first came in." Marsha is married and lives in Amissville. She enjoys relaxing with her family and her hobbies include sewing, reading and carpentry. She also enjoys all the benefits of working at Fauquier Hospital. "I really like working with my coworkers," Marsha says. "They're a wonderful group of people and we re all friends. We get along like family."
