The first open sheriff race in Rappahannock County in more than 30 years has been officially launched by Maj. Christopher Williams. Williams is currently employed by the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO). Sheriff Larry Sherertz has officially stated that he is not interested in running for re-election this fall.
Williams has been working for the Rappahannock Sheriff’s Office for 18 1/2 years. During his years of service, Williams has worked under three different Rappahannock County sheriffs: Sherertz, Gary Settle and John Woodard.
Williams said that over the years he has learned a lot and developed a rounded style of law enforcement.
“I have seen a lot of different leadership styles,” Williams said. “I have seen things that work in the county, and things that don’t work.”
