the present clerk has served 23 years since 1984 . Mrs. Mary Fitzhugh and Mrs. Lottie Aylor were the former Mother of the Church. Membership has increased and decreased over the years. Deacons have been ordained, new clubs organized and Rev Anna Lewis Allsberry licensed in 1983 and ordained in 1994. She has served as Associate Pastor since 1996. Rev. Anna Allsberry was installed as Pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church, Unionville (Orange County), Virginia in March 2006.
In the early years the members helped each other. Pound parties were held in which every one took a pound of something. They helped each other to garden, kill hogs, dig wells and minor repairs on their homes. They also helped to dig graves for tire family.
The congregation still owns a cemetery, which is on land purchased from Arthur Ingham This is off Route 211.
Reverend Henry A Ibwnes was called to pastor on January 1,1995. He was installed as the seventh pastor of the Hopewell Baptist Church on June 3,1995.
