Sargent J.C. Welsh, an investigator for the Tbwn of Culpeper Police department, has declared his interest in the position and will make a formal announcement next Thursday night at the Washington Fire Hall. Another possible candidate, Andy Berry, currently works as a patrol officer for the Tbwn of Culpeper Police Department. He has stated that he will not run for Sheriff in Rappahannock County and will support J.C. Welch’s campaign. Welsh and Berry previously worked together in the RCSO before taking positions in Culpeper.
Other rumored candidates include RCSO employee Lt. Connie Smith and Wayne Sumner, a member of the State Police Crime Investigation Unit in Culpeper.
