But the numbers leave PEC president Chris Miller cold. “I don’t think Dominion is surprised by them,” Miller said. “They’re at a lower growth rate than projected earlier.”
PEC believes greed drives Dominion’s interest in the proposed line. Linked to the national grid, it largely would serve the Northeast, according to the environmental group. Dominion would collect revenue based on the number of such megawatts transmitted on its portion of the line.
Dominion claims serving its customers remains the top priority.
But public officials increasingly “are beginning to share our understanding that (peak demand for electricity) is a problem that can be solved though other ways, but that Dominion is unwilling to pursue them,” Miller said.
