Town Council to appoint
new member, vice mayor

The Washington Town Council will have a new look come Wednesday after the group gathers for its monthly meeting.
The council is charged with appointing someone to succeed former Vice Mayor Reinhardt Lynch, who moved out of town last month.
Lynch, a former co-proprietor of The Inn at Little Washington, left the town following a settlement that finalized the breakup of his business partnership with Patrick O’Connell, who is now the Inn’s sole proprietor.
Lynch served on the Town Council for 18 years before submitting his letter of resignation prior to the group’s meeting on Jan. 22. The council has been accepting applications for the vacant position since that meeting.
As of Wednesday at noon, Washington Mayor Eugene Leggett said the only person that had applied for the position is Architectural. Review Board member John Sullivan. Council member Claudia Mitchell said she plans to nominate Sullivan for the open seat on the council.
Friday is the deadline for applications and the council will decide on Lynch’s successor at their monthly meeting Wednesday.
The next vice mayor will be chosen from among all the council members after Lynch’s former seat in the group is filled.
