Boat Building
Justine Rosenbaum’s third grade class recently took a trip to the Boat Works in Washington, Virginia. This field trip allowed the third grade to see an actual boat building project and many fine furniture pieces being constructed, which tied into their Native American study block and their Building study block. The students presented Andrew Smith and Justin Corddy with beeswax boat sculptures they had made in art class, and our sincere thanks go to Mr. Smith and Mr. Corddy for allowing our students to visit their workshop and learn about what they do.
First-grade fun
Shona Terrill’s first grade class is completing its Mathematics study block, concentrating on the 4 and 8 number patterns and introducing place value.
They are currently studying rain forests and habitat in nature studies, and enjoying their subscription to Ranger Rick Magazine. The first grade’s next community service project will be to visit a nursing home to read to the residents. Painting watercolors
Kitty Keyser and Linda Orfilla’s Nursery-Kindergarten classes continue working on their beautiful water color paintings, as well as music, knitting and sewing, movement and counting. Story time is a favorite time for students. They are also learning Spanish in context throughout the day.
