As part of its Enlighten campaign, PEC bought 1,000 MaxLite 60-watt compact fluorescent bulbs to distribute to anyone who wants them. Already, it’s given away more than 300.
PEC believes Dominion Virginia Power’s proposed, 500,000-volt transmission line through Frederick, Warren, Fauquier, Prince William and Loudoun counties would be unnecessary if the utility adopted and aggressively promoted creative solutions to satisfying Northern Virginia’s electricity needs.
These solutions should include conservation, programs to manage energy use and upgrades to Dominion’s existing infrastructure, PEC officials said.
