A new era for Culpeper

Mello said that the position in Culpeper would be challenging, but he was willing to be part of the county’s transition from one high school to two. “With two high schools, the children in Culpeper will benelit from a smaller learning environment,” he said.

Currently Culpeper County high school has about 2,400 students. With the addition of Eastern View High School in 2008, each high school will have a population of 1,200.

“I believe the true measure of school success is how much you give to your community and the children in it,” Mello said, “a good high school should become part of th. fabric of a community and should serve as a source of pride for the citizens.”
