Troop 36 Life-to-Eagle Counselor Capt. Darrow Kirkpatrick, together with the Eagle Scouts present, issued the Eagle Charge and Oath in which Matthew promised to continue his life of service to others and to uphold the ideals of Scouting and those of an Eagle Scout.
Matthew in turn gave a speech thanking his parents, his church, and all the Scouts and adults who over his dozen years of Scouting helped him in reaching Eagle rank.
